White Crap

So we got a little of the white crap.
My poor little garden knome.... I'm beginning to think I should move him inside next to the fireplace. But then again, after losing that damn bowl game, he may have to just represent outside. Not that I'm bitter at all.........

So after weeks of pretty clear and light snow that melts immediately upon hitting the ground days, we had a doozie of a storm push through. We got some white crap on the ground. And it just kept coming all day long.

Luckily my girls have a loving mother who will heat up a truck, and drive them to the bus stop down the road. Otherwise that 3/4 of a mile walk would have been chill-y this morning.

Dude, the snow looks like that stupid ice cream/yogurt bead stuff they sell you at the mall. You know dippin' dots? Yeah, check out the little balls of snow on my porch.

And just to prove my point, this is my road. On the side of my mountain, driving back from dropping the kids at the bus stop. 4x4 comes in handy yo.......

I'll be back later. I have a paper to write. Oh the joys of school.

So I got to meet some more neighbors

I had my former nanny come visit me, it was a good visit. If you're a reader of this blog then you know that that nanny saved my bacon when I was battling recovering from surgery and my local after school care program closed. So when we relo-ed adn didn't need our nanny anymore, we kept her. Literally, lol. Her four little ones adore my kids and with six kids running all over this place, it was insane.

We saw some local nature stuff, gysers and hot springs. Then Saturday night it went to hell in a handbasket. Her oldest boy is 5 and that little guy has always been medically challenged. But bless his little heart, the extreme change in weather prompted an attack. So for the first time ever, I had an ambulance at my house.

Luckily they were able to stablize him, but when they showed up I was nervous. I literally live in the boonies. In the middle of nowhere.... the nearest hospital is almost an hour way. But since it was shift change, I had four paramedics show up to get him back on track.

Let's look at the paramedics:
1. the husband of Princess' math teacher - remember we'd had tea at their house when we first moved here cause she and Prin weren't seeing eye to eye on the best way to get math help? Yeah, I gots that shit fixed up with some charm and "you don't intimidate me chick"... when in doubt, always do a home visit ;) little southern tip there for you. But now, I'm that teacher's biggest fan! So it works...... off subject, sorry.

2. Mother of one of Duchess' classmates

3. Husband of the postal lady who cracks me up

4. Teacher at Duchess' school.

Once he was under control, they had me rolling. Apparently, my grace-less-ness is well known. They'd all put bets on it being me and what'd I done to myself. Everyone knew someone in my family and where amazingly proactive with little man.

Then there was my few neighbors....while we live on the side of a mountain, we overlook a canyon so apparently the lights from the ambulance were visible for about four miles. Cause that is how far from me that a friend lives. She called.... was already dressed and heating up her truck thinking it was me or my babies. She was on her way.

I'm blessed. It's not perfect, it's not Texas but I'm settling in nicely here and making my way. It sure is simpler out in the country. Although if Dave is to get me further out in the country, he'd have to move me the far reaches of Canada. geez.

Random bits of Griswalding

So we're just living our lives and doing our things. So here is a little bit of an update on how we been staying busy....

Me and my mini-me Princess, hamming it up!

My boy, napping in my damn bed like he owns it.

My date for Valentine's pizza. Gluten - free of course. Yummy. She is a great date.

So the Princess went with her youth group and served dinner to all the church couples at the Vday banquet. She had to be a fancy waitress. I managed to make this hairstyle. Oh boy.

My girls on the mountain, Friday at the slopes as usual. My new schedule for the weekends rock.

We took the daddy shopping for new jeans. And while there Duchess, who is designing her own outfits these days, had alittle hat fun.

The ham dam heading out for a prime rib dinner. We put away some steak yo.

Good lord, she does not get that from me......... Although standing next to Dave always makes me feel like a woman. TMI much?

Once again, hamming it up with my mini-me. The 13 year old is loving the fact that we can throw down and wrestle. I still kick her butt though, cause frankly I have to as a parent and secondly cause I'm meaner than she is.

So we had to bring in more pellets. You get them bad boys by the pallet up here yo....keeps the fireplaces running nicely!

Duchess is painting and designing her own wall decor for her room. Gotta get some frames.

Princess apparently eats mustard with her french fries, yuck.

There is no salad too scary for my baby. She is part rabbit apparently.

And this is what it looks like on the way home from skiing every Friday. They sleep like ROCKS.

V-day is approaching....

So Dave is gotten be done for Valentine's Day. But never say he's a slacker. Cause he used a routine trip to Walmart to make sure his girls got a little spoiling. We are all the proud owners of big arse bears that smell just like Daddy, thanks to generous squirts of his cologne. (Basically the whole house smells like him now, yummy)

Ignore our horrible buggy habits (and yes it's called a damn buggy people).... but we tend to really enjoy ourselves in public, public opinion be dayumed.

So my darling princess Duchess, gots a princess bear. Princess gots a white bear and me....

I got a bear almost as big as me. So I can now snuggle with my bear on those nights when Dave is gone. Murphy and I can share that king sized bed with Mr. Snuggles. I measured, his wingspan is almost as wide as Dave's.

I hate leftovers........so.....

I made a fabulous brisket for dinner. Seriously it was "I'd slap my momma but she hits back" fabulous. Get this, I made that bad boy in the oven too, YO! My kitchen skillz are ramping up there with my bathroom scrubbing skillz now. Dave is so pleased!

But seriously the secret ingredient, red wine is oh so yummy. And since I had a bottle of what appears to extremely expensive red wine, thanks to Dave's boss who thoughtfully brought over some to dinner once.... I had some on hand.

Now what to do, I only used half the bottle in the marinade.......

So I'm stuck with half a bottom of really good shit, I mean red.........

My Foster Baby

Susie, the sweet dog that Dave rescued that was abandoned at our groomers last week..... well she is a doll. And my foster baby has a new home as of today! So excited. A coworker of Dave's is getting a great dog. I'm gonna miss the little snuggler! Like crazy.

We'd keep her forever, except she hates Murphy. With a vengence. Like some people hate me, cause they just aren't cool. Like I hate people who blames others for their problems. Like Dave hates loud music and glitter. Like Duchess hates being quiet and like Princess hates being told no. You get the idea huh?

So while Susie loves the family, my foster baby can't stay forever. That sucks, because I love her! Dayum. Murphy is a doll, he understands that she's a newbie to the house and he just sits there while she bites the crap out of him. My dog is the best.

And this pic below really nails it, she's mean mugging Murphy, and he's looking away like... seriously beotch? And Dave is just .... Dave.

Another Friday at the Slopes

My kids are the bomb.com. Dave took today off and we spent it watching our kids plus friend. They skiied from nine to two with a small break to stuff chilli cheese fries in their faces and off they went. And interesting enough, the say started with the teens going along with my new skiier. Except she got faster than them and left them. She got in twice as many runs as they did, lol. More pics and vids coming soon.

Yet more reasons to exercise

Another from scratch batch of gluten free blueberry scones going into the oven

I really like the "me" time

Sometimes it really gets nice to have that "me" time. Before Idaho, I can't remember a time when I didn't have to flat our screw my schedule just to get some "me" time. This morning, I got a little pamper thyself time. Yeah, Dave was right.... this just really puts a smile on my face and relaxes me.

Sigh.

Now as fun as this morning was, it's time to go now. I have to go to the school and do the AR reading with the third graders. Peace out baby.

Hail the Baking Goddess

You betta recognize! Okay all horn touting aside, last night was a pretty big nite. Dave's boss and a huge client were over for dinner. Dave thought it'd be better to have them over to our house for dinner than a restaurant. So I spent all afternoon cooking a can't fail dinner:

1. my momma's "make-ya-slap-somebody" jambalaya .... this takes three hours of baby-ing
2. jalapeno cornbread made with cream style corn, cheese and those hot and spicy little peppers we all love so much (don't rub your eyes yo)
3. a salad to end all salads: baby cucumbers, baby tomatoes, snow peas, radishes, broccoli, and etc with four dressings (I had some left over for lunch, yummy)

and to wrap it all off......

I was clueless about desserts. Because it's my kitchen, the entire meal was gluten-free but it's not something I announce to everyone so I needed a kill dessert to top it off. Except my signature recipe: carrot cake? I made that last time his boss came to dinner... you just don't do that you know. So I dug around and looked for something yummy.

Couldn't find shit, so I made my own recipe and if I do say so myself, those blueberry and cream cheese scones OMGAWD, seriously there was none left, cause our guests took them home in goodie bags.

So yeah, I rocked that beotch out of the park. Plus it was so cute how thrilled Dave was with my skillz. When I want to, I can really do some cool things with this gluten free thing going.

On the GF note: found a new tummy doc. Now we are doing more testing to see how I'm doing and then I'll be all healthy and fun!
